Located in the southernmost portion of the Wyoming Basin, where
it enters Northern Colorado - Sand Creek Park is a part of the Chimney Rock
Ranch, and consists of 35-40 plus acre parcels, enjoys the distinction of being
one of the top recreational areas in Northern Colorado. The location is
beautiful parkland with rolling terrain surrounded by high bluffs and millions
of acres of state and national forest. Hunting, fishing, hiking,
horseback-riding and sightseeing are some of the activities enjoyed by
residents and their guests. |

 |
Access is by two-wheel drive car in summer or under ideal weather
and road conditions. In winter months nature takes a break from all of the
activity, as snow blankets the ranch, limiting access to only the most hardy.
Some of the favorite pastimes of owners are hiking, sightseeing, exploring,
trail riding, fishing, and hunting on adjoining public lands. Many thousands of
acres of Roosevelt National Forest, Colorado State forests and Bureau of Land
Management holdings provide a park-like atmosphere for owners and their guests.
8 miles of private stream and numerous beaver ponds are available to landowners
for fishing purposes. |

Owners drill for water or haul water in for the weekend. There are
no public utilities serving the area. Solar energy, generators and cellular
phone service provide alternatives. Prior to modern ranching, the area hosted
Indian tribes and buffalo. Archaeologists tell us thousands of buffalo were
driven off the huge sandstone bluffs. A number of owners continue to find
Indian artifacts, arrowheads tools and buffalo skulls. Today, the area is home
to recreational owners of 35+ acre tracts. A low density environment, friendly
wildlife and people. An association of landowners collect $1.00 per acre per
year, for which the owners enjoy a stocked trout stream, security patrols
during certain critical times of year, and summer road maintenance. |
